EGYPTIAN FOLIO Nephthys,  Goddess of the Night, Sister of Isis

Nephthys large

Neppthys, Queen of the Night, Protector of the Dead, is depicted with outstretched protective wings and accompanied by images of her son, Anubis, the God of the Dead and ‘Lord of the Necropolis’.

She is kneeling on a couch decorated with the all-seeing Eye of Horus, under which is the symbol for Gold. Isis and Nephthys were often depicted kneeling on this sign, for gold was the symbol for eternal life, and survival of death.

Tied offerings of the sacred lotus flowers complete the tableau.
